Police Officers, politicians, and private citizens from across Wyoming are expressing shock and sadness at the death of a Sheridan Police Officer who was killed in the line of duty on Tuesday.

According to the Sheridan Police and Fire Facebook page, Sgt. Nevada Krinkee, a six-and-a-half-year veteran of the department, was shot on Tuesday while attempting to serve a trespass warning on a male subject. Krinkee was taken to a Sheridan hospital where he died from his injuries. The page said the suspect had fled to a nearby home and was engaged in an ongoing armed standoff with law enforcement. As of 8 am on Wednesday further updates had been released on the standoff.

Meanwhile, expressions of sadness and shock at the officer's death are pouring in from both the Sheridan area and across Wyoming.

Reactions To Sgt. Krinkee's Death

Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger's office released a statement that included the following:

''We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Police Sergeant Nevada Krinkee, who was killed in the line of duty while selflessly serving our community. His loss serves as a solemn and heartbreaking reminder of the risks our law enforcement officers face every day. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Krinkee’s family, loved ones, the Sheridan Police Department, and other first responders during this difficult time.''

Governor Mark Gordon posted this statement: "I join all of Wyoming in mourning the loss of Sheridan Police Sergeant Nevada Krinkee, who was killed in the line of duty today.

This senseless act is a solemn reminder of the selfless risks our law enforcement officers take each day when they put on the badge. Jennie and I extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Sergeant Krinkee, the Sheridan Police Department, and the entire law enforcement community.''

 The Cheyenne PD posted the following on its Facebook page: '"Our thoughts are with the Sheridan, WY police department and community as they grieve the tragic loss of one of their officers. We extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to their agency and the family and friends of Sergeant Nevada Krinkee.''
