The groundbreaking ceremony on the new Wyoming Malting Company facility in Pine Bluffs is slated for Friday afternoon, according to a release from Cheyenne LEADS.

The new plant will produce malt for the craft beer and distilling industries. It will use locally grown products and will be the first malt house in Wyoming. The project is using a grant and loan from the Wyoming Business Council to pay for construction.

Once it is built, Cheyenne LEADS will own the property and lease the facility to Wyoming Malting Company. The project is expected to create about nine jobs over the next five years.

The groundbreaking ceremony is planned for 3 p.m. on July 1 at North Beech Avenue in Pine Bluffs.
