It's been a shortened and compacted 2020 Wyoming Department of American Legion baseball season, but it's gone fairly smoothly.

WyoPreps had an opportunity to speak with Wyoming Legion Baseball State Chairman Cody Beers on Wednesday about this year in the audio interview posted at the top of the story.

Beers praised how well the players, coaches, Legion Boards, and parents have handled a different season with the pandemic, particularly having produced safe environments for the kids to be successful in. Beers explained they do have statewide protocols in place for how to run state tournaments. Two of those have concluded with two more to play. He also feels like the last two state tournaments will be highly competitive.

The Wyoming Legion Baseball Class A 2020 State Tournament begins Saturday, Aug. 1, and continues through Wednesday, Aug. 5 in Powell. That's followed by the Class AA 2020 State Tournament in Rock Springs on Aug. 5 through Aug. 9.

With no regional tournaments or Legion World Series this summer, the season for all teams will conclude at these two state tournaments, respectively.
