CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Six Wyoming lawmakers are traveling to Asia next week as part of the state's continuing effort to find energy markets there.

According to a release from the non-partisan Legislative Service Office, the following lawmakers are traveling to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan from Sept. 9 to Sept. 20:

Senate President Tony Ross, R-Cheyenne; Speaker of the House Tom Lubnau, R-Gillette; Sen. Phil Nicholas, R-Laramie; Sen. Eli Bebout, R-Riverton; Rep. Bob Nicholas, R-Cheyenne and Rep. Mike Greear, R-Worland.

Gov. Matt Mead previously has traveled to Asia to try to explore markets for Wyoming products.

There's been considerable resistance in states in the Northwest to proposals to carry coal by rail from Wyoming's Powder River Basin for export to Asia.
