20 Car Crash On I-80 One Of Several Between Sinclair And Laramie
As of about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Wyoming Highway Patrol reported multiple crashes had forced a rolling closure on Interstate 80 between Sinclair and Laramie.
That's according to a post on the patrol's Facebook page.
Helicopter Deployed To Evacuate Crash Victims
The patrol says one large crash at mile marker 259 eastbound involved 20 vehicles, with a helicopter deployed to evacuate two people.
Other I-80 crashes have been reported between mile markers 264-269. According to the post, crews are working to clear the roads and assess the safety of bridges.
The post goes on to say crews are working hard to clear the roads and make sure bridges are safe.
The post goes on to say: Roads have been very slick today, and while the ice is melting the roads are still seeing plenty of slick spots with strong winds, blowing snow and slush. Currently, opening of the interstate is expected between 5 and 7 this evening
The patrol says it's important to take extra precautions on slick roads, and to, please "give more space to the vehicles in front of you, allowing a greater distance for following and more time to stop when needed."
Motorists could face more challenges on Wyoming Highways on Thursday, with wind speeds predicted to top out over 90 miles an hour and possibly even hit 100 mph in some areas.
