CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission has ordered a temporary halt to the use of historic horse racing terminals throughout the state.

The commission on Friday ordered that the terminals at bars and off-track betting sites go dark at 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Commissioner Randy Leinen says the commission's decision comes after a Sept. 23 state attorney general's opinion that concluded the terminals do not conform with state law.

The commission has scheduled a special meeting for Thursday to discuss the issue further, including ways to make the terminals conform to state law.

Horse breeders and other people who are involved in the terminal business were shocked by the commission's decision and criticized the commission giving them only two day's warning.
