Wyoming Equality Executive Director Sara Burlingame says she wants to clarify a statement she made recently on the Laramie County School District#1 action plan to address bullying and harassment.

She says that while she mentioned the NAACP on the original statement, she wants it understood that she does not speak for that organization or its opinion of the plan.

Her original statement read as follows:

The action plan was developed following a district investigation into events at McCormick Junior High School, including the posting of anti-gay and racist flyers. An investigation by the district found that bullying and harassment had occurred, and that district guidelines for dealing with such issues had not always been followed.
The district has developed a plan for dealing with the issues going forward that includes a review of district policies and training as well as at least two public meetings
