The appointment of former FBI Chief Robert Mueller as Special Counsel in the investigation of Russian interference in the US presidential election, has generally been praised by both sides of the aisle on Capitol Hill.

In the Wyoming delegation, that sentiment is shared as well.

We contacted all three members of the delegation to get their thoughts on the situation.

Senator John Barrasso told us, “The FBI investigation into Russian interference in the U.S. election will continue. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller is well-qualified for this appointment. I have full confidence that he and the Senate Intelligence Committee will follow the facts in their investigations wherever they lead.”

Senator Mike Enzi’s office sent us this comment, “Former FBI Director Robert Mueller is a sound choice by the Deputy Attorney General to serve as special counsel. The bipartisan U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is also currently investigating any potential Russian intervention into our election. I have confidence that both investigations will be conducted with the utmost expertise as the Senate continues work on other key issues, such as health care and the budget, which are the focus of my committees.”

We also contacted the office of Representative Liz Cheney who reportedly took down an earlier Instagram post praising the President’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey.

Her media spokesman Joe Jackson told us this, “Director Comey had usurped the power of the Attorney General and lost the ability to run the FBI with credibility and objectivity. Congressman Cheney believes President Trump was right to seek a replacement and hopes the Administration moves quickly to appoint a new Director.”

That doesn't answer the question about Robert Mueller, but was the response we got.
