Recently a few callers to the Wake Up Wyoming show wanted to know why some county clerks in the state charge for information that used to be free.

Were these new fees a decision of the county clerks? The county commissioners? Did the state decide that they could?

Why do some states have county information fees and some do not?

Who do some counties charge fees for information and some do not?

Why do these county fees vary so much from county to county?

Why can't the county clerks office be more like a library, where all information is free?

To answer these questions, The Lady Alex reached out to Lucile K. Taylor, county clerk of Converse county.

Special thanks to Mrs. Taylor for agreeing to come on the show and explain.

Her interview with answers to all these questions and more is below.
