Weather Service Warns Of Severe Thunderstorm Headed For Casper
The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for
Central Natrona County including Casper until 7 p.m. today.
Likewise a large area of thunderstorms over northern Carbon County will spread north across southeast Natrona County.
Dangerous lightning, nickel sized hail and rainfall of an inch an hour will likely become widespread.
In addition to that, a severe thunderstorm was reported at 3:32 p.m. near Goldeneye Reservoir, which is 18 miles northwest of Casper. That storm is moving west.
The Weather Service is warning Casper may experience 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail that could damage vehicles.
It also warns of wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
The severe thunderstorm also will impact the Casper-Natrona County International Airport.
The Weather Service urges people to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately.
