Vehicular Homicide Charge Dropped in Cheyenne Boy’s Death
A vehicular homicide charge has been dropped against a man who struck and killed a 4-year-old Cheyenne boy last December.
Police say Christopher Wetherholt failed to yield the right of way when he struck Ashley Nowlin and her son, Aiden Mullinax, in a crosswalk at Converse Avenue and E. Lincolnway on Dec. 12, 2017.
Mullinax died at the scene. Nowlin was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for head injuries.
Court records say Wetherholt told police that he was focused on the vehicle directly in front of him and didn't see anyone in the crosswalk until it was too late.
Wetherholt was charged with a single count of vehicular homicide in February and was scheduled to go to trial Dec. 4, but prosecutors dismissed the charge Friday.
