University of Wyoming Hosts Name the Tribble Contest

CHEYENNE (AP) The University of Wyoming's American Heritage Center is holding a "Name the Tribble" contest. A tribble is a small furball of a creature from the Star Trek television series that first appeared in a famous 1967 episode.

On the show, tribbles endeared themselves to everybody except Klingons, who despised them. The trouble with tribbles is they're very prolific. They overpopulated the Starship Enterprise.A tribble from the Star Trek set is among many items that science-fiction publisher Forrest Ackerman donated to UW decades ago. The tribble-naming contest commemorates American Archives Month. Entries can be emailed to ahc(at)uwyo.edu, with "Tribble Contest" and your name in the subject line. The deadline is Oct. 22.
