United Blood Services (UBS) is giving away a motorcycle and other prizes in July to encourage people to donate blood.

A release from the organization says blood donations tend to taper off in the summer months after the school year winds down and summer vacation season arrive. But even though donations decrease, the need for blood donations to help patients in Wyoming and beyond continues.

To counter that trend, UBS says donors who give blood at the organization's Cheyenne or Casper community donor centers or to any UBS blood drive in Wyoming during May and June are automatically entered to win prizes including a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Five names of blood donors will be drawn during a live facebook event on Wednesday, July 12. The grand prize will be a  Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. You can see a picture of the motorcycle here. Four other finalists will win a $100 gas gift card.

Donors must be at least 18 years old to qualify for those prizes. But blood donors who are 16 or 17 will be eligible to win an IPad mini 4 tablet. Twenty of those prizes will be given away to donors who give blood in May and another  20 to those giving blood in June.
