RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — Union Pacific is planning to spend $28.5 million this year to improve its rail network in Wyoming.

The work includes maintenance on track and bridges.

Between 2011 and 2015, UP has pumped more than $160 million to improve Wyoming transportation infrastructure. This year's investments are part of an ongoing strategy to improve efficiency along the rail giant's 874 miles of Wyoming track.

UP spokesperson Calli Hite says the railroad will work closely with local communities on any impacts of the work.
