Dick Hartman of the Union Pacific Railroad  presented a check for $10,000 to the Comea House Shelter in Cheyenne Wednesday morning. Comea Executive Director Robin Zimmer said the money will be used to expand the shelter by roughly 20 beds during the upcoming winter months, when use of the shelter tends to be at it's highest. Zimmer says she has seen an increase in homeless people in Cheyenne over the last few months. She says one example of that occurred as recently as Tuesday, when the shelter was forced to turn away two people because all of the available beds were taken.

Zimmer says that sort of situation was never seen at Comea House Shelter this time of year until recently, indicating there will be an increased need for shelter services during the upcoming winter months, generally the busiest time of the year at the shelter. Zimmer says the donation will serve as a "band aid" until a more permanent expansion of the facility can be implemented.
