What were some of our favorite radio shows from those thrilling days of yesteryear in Cheyenne? I realize that for most of us they were re-runs, but were the pioneers of entertainment after the days of Vaudeville.

Today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight my top favorite old time radio programs that used to broadcast through the boxes called radios, into the living rooms of families throughout Cheyenne.

  1. Dragnet - No question, this is my numero uno favorite old time radio program. Of course, the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
  2. Gunsmoke - There was only one way to handle the killers and the spoilers and that's with a U.S. Marshall and the smell of.....gunsmoke!
  3. The Jack Benny Program - Jack was always the butt of the jokes and portrayed himself as a tight wad. The fact is that Mr. Benny was very generous and his cast were the best paid in Hollywood at the time.
  4. Amos And Andy - This was set in Harlem New York and was a great comedy. Amos and Andy were voiced by two white actors, but later were voiced by black actors. CBS owns the copyrights to the show and have not released them.
  5. This Is Your F.B.I. - These were actual stories taken from real cases from the F.B.I. and put into radio form.

The Top 5 at 7:45 air weekdays with me, Gary Freeman, and brought to you by First Education Federal Credit Union.
