Wyoming unemployment

Teton County had the largest drop in unemployment.

Unemployment continues to surge nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Wyoming isn't an exception.

More than 6,000 claims were filed last week.

The new numbers reflect a slight decrease from October where unemployment was at 3.8 percent.

Natrona County had the biggest drop in unemployment in Wyoming between February and March.

Wyoming's statewide unemployment rate increased to 5.5 percent in April, up from 5.2 percent the month before.

A Senior Economist with the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says that while most counties have seen unemployment drop over the past year, layoffs in the oil and gas industry are a big concern going forward.

Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James says the number of nuclear force officers implicated in a proficiency test cheating scandal has grown to 92 out of a force of 500.  Wyoming's unemployment rate in December was unchanged from November, but most of the county unemployment rates went up...

Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Director Joan Evans says she expects the state's jobless rate to continue to decline. Evans notes the overall statewide trend in recent months has been very small declines in the statewide rate from month to month.
