Wyoming Coal

Under the deal, West Virginia-based Blackjewel would sell the Eagle Butte and Belle Ayr mines in northeast Wyoming to Eagle Specialty Materials, a subsidiary of Alabama-based FM Coal.

The agreement is subject to approval by Contura's board of directors and U.S. Bankruptcy Court in West Virginia.

The auction, originally scheduled for Thursday, will take place 11 a.m. EDT Aug. 15 in New York.

Federal bankruptcy judge Frank Volk approved the motion Friday morning.

On Monday, attorneys for Westar Energy filed a motion in federal court alleging that the Kansas electricity provider isn't receiving adequate coal shipments from Blackjewel.
