In the three weeks since the rally kicked off, coronavirus cases in South Dakota have shot up at a startling pace.

The 81st edition of the largest biker rally on earth saw a rise in attendance in 2021, with over 370,000 people making the trek to Sturgis, South Dakota.

Despite new variant of virus, more than 700,00 expected to attend this year's event

Last year, the rally hardly slowed down, with roughly 460,000 people attending.

The health department has issued public warnings for two bars.

Many of Sturgis' roughly 7,000 residents are leery about the brimming bars and bacchanalia, saying the rally shouldn't happen during a pandemic.
