Former Republican candidate for Laramie County Sheriff Boyd Wrede has become the second former Republican candidate to endorse independent sheriff candidate Jeff Barnes.
In his statement on the race for sheriff, Hollingshead wrote ''one thing we do know is that our supporters believe Brian Kozak is not the person for the job of Sheriff.''
Hollingshead will face Brian Kozak and Boyd Wrede in the August 16 Republican primary. Independent Jeff Barnes and Democrat Jess Fresquez are also running.
Barnes will face one of three Republican candidates, Boyd Wrede, Brian Kozak, or Don Hollingshead in November. Democrat Jess Fresquez is also on the ballot for Laramie County Sheriff.
Barnes will appear on the November 8 general election ballot, along with Democratic candidate Fresquez and whichever candidate wins the GOP nomination for Laramie County Sheriff.
He says other candidates in the race are trying to blame the leadership of the agency for poor morale, when in fact the real problem is low pay, which he says he is discussing with county commissioners.
