Pantry officials say the giveaway is a way to say thank you to the community.

Some states have begun spending more money to help pay for food that might otherwise go to waste.

The shelter also has soups and canned foods available so that children won't go hungry.

This summer, the Food Bank consolidated its area operations at its warehouse in Evansville.
