Microsoft is providing a $150,000 strategic grant to the Cheyenne Chamber Foundation for the installation of free public Wi-Fi at the Cheyenne Depot.

The funds will be distributed through an application process.

The University of Wyoming has received a $9.77 million award from the U.S. Department of Energy for a project that would determine the feasibility of creating a commercial-scale geological storage complex for carbon dioxide in Wyoming.

It will bring up to 90 new jobs to Sheridan starting this year.

Nationwide, the department has awarded a record $2 billion to more than 7,300 housing and services programs.

Cheyenne-based Great Lakes Airline is providing one flight a week from Cheyenne to Denver, down from eight flights it used to make.

Nichols said semi-finalists would be announced around March, following site visits, and that the grant-winner would likely not be announced until June.

The center will be focused on research into understanding and curing diseases.

The University of Wyoming Geological Museum will be able to display the entirety of its fossil collection thanks to a $101,413 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

A portion of the money can be used by the state for enforcement, corrective action and cost recovery.
