Independence Day is right around the corner, and the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office is reminding those planning to celebrate with a cold one or two to plan a sober ride home.

Cheyenne residents looking to celebrate Independence Day with a bang may get a bust if they decide to shoot off fireworks in the capital city.

Most fireworks are illegal inside the city of Cheyenne on public or private property. The only exceptions are sparklers, smoke devices, and some novelty items.

Cheyenne's annual fireworks show will light up the skies over Frontier Park beginning at 9:35 p.m. on the Fourth of July.

Cheyenne police say they confiscated a lot of illegal fireworks over the Fourth of July weekend despite criticism that they "weren't taking action" against violators.

The show will begin at 9:35 p.m. Saturday.
