The execution early Saturday of Dustin Higgs concludes an unprecedented run of executions since July, when Trump resumed the federal death penalty after a 17-year hiatus.
The new hold on executions came a day after a federal appeals court lifted a hold on the execution of Daniel Lewis Lee, of Yukon, Oklahoma, which is scheduled for 4 p.m. EDT on Monday.
Supporters of the legislation such as Sabrina King of the Wyoming ACLU expressed disappointment but said they will try again to repeal the death penalty in future sessions of the legislature.
