Witnesses say they saw her get buried in the debris and carried about 450 feet.

The site is about 50 miles northeast of Jackson.

Teton Pass west of Jackson was closed for avalanche control and U.S. 89 southwest of Jackson was closed because of an avalanche.

Crews had the roadway cleared a little over an hour later.

It was about 4 feet deep and about 30 feet wide.

An avalanche also buried a snowmobiler in southeastern Utah and officials are still searching for him.

The closure is between Bondurant and Hoback Junction.

Teams of searchers using beacons and dogs combed the area to make sure no one else was trapped.

One of the friends stayed to dig while the other one rode about 30 minutes to where he could get cell service.
