A Fort Collins shooting incident led to the arrest of 44-year-old Geoffrey James Lewicke on attempted murder charges early Saturday morning, according to a post on the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

According to the post, someone called 911 at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 to report a shooting in the 300 block of Sitzman Way in Fort Collins. The post says the adult female victim and a witness fled to a grocery store in the area, where they were met by law enforcement officers and emergency responders.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital hos[ital where she underwent emergency surgery. Sheriff's deputies, Fort Collins Police officers, and members of the Larimer County SWAT team were deployed around a home on Sitzman Way as a search warrant was drawn up.

At a little after 5 a.m. on Saturday the SWAT team entered the home and contacted Lewicke, who was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

According to the release, Lewicke is charged with

1st Degree Assault – C.R.S. 18-3-202(1)(a)(2)(a) Felony 5
Criminal Attempt – C.R.S. 18-2-101(4) Felony 5
