Young adults around the country are dealing with staggering student loan debt, stagnant salaries, and rising rents, but not in Wyoming. A new study recently ranked the Cowboy State as the third-best state for millennials.

Nearly 42 percent of millennials in Wyoming are homeowners, well above the national average. Young adults in the Cowboy State also have the lowest rate of student loan debt in the nation. The rate of millennials living below the poverty line is also well below the national average at 12.5 percent.

Wyoming trailed only Utah and Iowa in the study, with North Dakota and Minnesota rounding out the five best states for adults between the ages of 23 and 38. Several states around the region also ranked among the best, including Idaho (7th), South Dakota (8th), Nebraska (9th), and Montana (10th). Colorado ranked 15th.

Washington, D.C. ranked last in the study. 25 percent of young adults in our nation's capital live below the poverty line, only 18 percent own a home or apartment, and the average millennial carries over $60,000 in student loan debt. Georgia, New York, Florida, and North Carolina, rounded out the five worst states for millennials.
