CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Supreme Court has overturned one of the four convictions against a former Sublette County sheriff.

Stephen Haskell was convicted of four crimes for ordering uniforms before he took the job and then modifying invoices to fool county commissioners about when the orders were placed.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that Haskell's conviction of obtaining property by false pretenses, a felony, suffered from a lack of supporting evidence. The court directed the Sublette County District Court to acquit the former sheriff on the single count.

However, the justices affirmed Haskell's other three convictions in their written ruling.

In his appeal, Haskell had argued for acquittal on all four convictions.

Haskell was removed from office and sentenced to nine months of work release.
