The Office of State Lands and Investments held its quarterly oil and gas lease auction on Wednesday, August 7, 2013. The auction generated $1,607,918.28 million in mineral leases on a total of 6970.71 acres.

According to a news release the funds help support public schools and other designated beneficiaries such as the Fish Hatchery, Wyoming Game and Fish Department; Wyoming State Hospital and Veteran’s Home, Wyoming Department of Health; Public Buildings; Girls and Boys School and Women’s Center, Wyoming Department of Corrections; State Library; and the Agricultural College, University of Wyoming.

The sale included parcels from Big Horn, Campbell, Carbon, Converse, Crook, Fremont, Hot Springs, Johnson, Laramie, Lincoln, Natrona, Niobrara, Park, Sublette, Sweetwater, Uinta, Washakie, and Weston counties. The next state oil and gas lease auction is scheduled for November 6, 2013 in Cheyenne.
