Wyoming Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Steve Townsend says a combination of poor weather conditions and excessive speed may be to blame for a fatal Sunday afternoon accident on Wyoming Highway 287 in Albany County. Townsend says a northbound vehicle driven by 23 year old Jay Cauble of Castle Rock Colorado was traveling on a wet roadway with snow and blowing snow shortly before 3pm Sunday. Townsend says Cauble encountered a two vehicle crash which had blocked the northbound lane ahead of him. Townsend says Cauble applied the brakes in an effort to avoid the wreck, causing his vehicle to drift to the right. Cauble then steered to the left, causing his vehicle to cross into the southbound lane, where it collided head-on with a southbound vehicle driven by 62 year old Carla Radloff of Loveland, Colo. Townsend says both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane, with Radloff killed in the collision. Cauble was cited for careless driving, and Townsend says the highway remained closed for about two hours while crews cleaned up the wreckage.
