There are widespread reports of damage around southeast Wyoming this morning. While many reports are unconfirmed people are saying on social media and elsewhere that roofs have been damaged, trees uprooted, and an assortment of other damages.

Laramie County Combined Communications is asking people to limit calls to those involving injuries or fire hazards.

The agency posted the following on Facebook:

We are currently experiencing an extremely high call volume processing approximately 60 calls per hour with our staff of 4. This includes radio dispatching. We are receiving reports of wires down, property damage, car accidents, etc. If no one is injured and is not causing a fire hazard, etc., please do not call 911 to report property damage. You can file a report with the appropriate authority.

Cheyenne Police have been seen at intersections to prevent traffic in areas where fallen or blowing debris may present a hazard.

According to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service, strong winds can be expected through today and beyon:

 

Stretches of I-25, I-80 Closed

Travel is also being impacted. At last report, Interstate 25 was closed between Cheyenne and Douglas due to an extreme blow over risk. I-25 south from Cheyenne to Colorado as also closed.

Meanwhile, I-80 was closed between Laramie and Rawlins due to the wind. Even stretches of I-25 and I-80 which are not closed are under weight restrictions.
