Southeast Wyoming residents can expect a cold front and strong winds to blast the region starting Monday night.

That combination could plunge overnight temperatures in some areas to the 30s range at higher elevations and bring winds of 65 miles per hour to the region.

The agency posted the following on its website:

Main story for southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle will be a cold front coming out of Montana the next 24-48 hours. This front will bring a cool down to the area Tuesday and Wednesday. Ahead of the front, strong winds are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning. High Wind Watches are in effect for the wind prone areas tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. Look for high temperatures in the 60s to near 70 across southeast Wyoming Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows could fall into the low 30s in the mountains and high valleys west of the Laramie Range both Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. For the Nebraska Panhandle, highs in the 60s are expected, with overnight lows in the low to mid 40s Wednesday morning. Stay tuned!

Strong Winds Also Expected

Thought we were done with strong winds? Well maybe not. High Wind Watches have been posted for the wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming from late Monday night through Tuesday morning. West to southwest winds with gusts of 60-65 mph are possible during this time. Those with light weight/high profile vehicles, truckers with light loads and those towing camper trailers may experience an increased risk of blow offs or blow overs during this time. Stay tuned!
