Sheriff Releases Name of Fire Victim

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of a second victim in the early morning trailer fire (Friday, February 3^rd) at 3008 Terry Road, Space #17.

11 year old Miriam Ortiz is identified as the second victim.  Ortiz is the daughter of Erica Delgado, earlier identified as the first victim.  Both lived in Cheyenne and Ortiz was a student at Afflerbach Elementary School.

The investigation remains ongoing and is now being considered a possible homicide/suicide as the initial crime scene investigation indicated that the fire was deliberately set.  Investigators have recovered surveillance video of Delgado purchasing gasoline at a local convenience store and they have recovered text messages with possible overtones of suicide.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking that if there was anyone in the vicinity of 3008 Terry Road, #17, during the early morning hours of February 3^rd, and, may have seen anything suspicious to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (307) 633-4775, or they can contact Crimestoppers / Silent Witness at 638-TIPS (638-8477) where they can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
