It's been 22 years since the University of Wyoming had a baseball team, but there's still one former Poke keeping the tradition alive. Jeff Huson is the Colorado Rockies Color Analyst, a 12-year MLB veteran, and a proud member of the Wyoming Athletics Hall of Fame.

"I didn't have many choices coming out of junior college," Huson told the Casper Star Tribune in 2004. "I don't know if I would've made it to the major leagues if it weren't for Wyoming."

The Arizona-native got more than a scholarship when came to Laramie in 1984, it's also where he met his wife Wendy. The UW alums married after college, had three children and recently welcomed their first grandchild. During the off-season, Huson still makes it back to Wyoming every chance he gets and has become an annual fixture at UW's Rockies Caravan event.

Huson is one of several Wyoming products who made it to the major leagues. Former Poke Art Howe had a 30-year career as a player, coach, scout, and manager. Other notable baseball alums include Bill Ewing, who set an NCAA single-season record with 23 home runs in 1976, and Robert Jingling, who starred for the Pokes in the 1950s before signing with the Detroit Tigers.

Wyoming's greatest baseball moment came in 1956 when coach Bud Daniel led the Pokes to the College World Series. During his 20 seasons at the helm, Daniel won 295 games and five conference titles. A member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame, Daniel was enshrined in the University of Wyoming Hall of Fame in 1996.
