Wyoming Sees First Pedestrian Fatality of the Year
A 35-year-old Wyoming resident is dead after running in front of a vehicle, authorities say.
The incident happened around 8:10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, at milepost 7.5 on Rendezvous Road, southwest of Riverton.

According to a fatality crash summary from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a Nissan was headed east when Zachary Bowman ran into the eastbound lane from the south side of the roadway.
"The Nissan swerved left to avoid the pedestrian," the summary reads. "The Nissan struck the pedestrian on the front passenger side."
Sadly, Bowman didn't survive his injuries. The Nissan driver and their passenger were not injured in the crash.
The summary does not list any possible contributing factors.
First Pedestrian Fatality of 2026
Bowman is the first reported pedestrian and the fourth reported person to die on Wyoming's highways this year.
The state saw 12 pedestrian fatalities in 2025. Albany, Sheridan, and Sweetwater counties each recorded three; and Campbell, Hot Springs, and Teton counties each recorded one.
