It's no surprise when Republicans dominate Wyoming legislative races, and that was the case again on Tuesday.

Laramie County Republican legislative candidates mostly faced no opponents or won their races easily.

Darin Smith was unpposed on Tuesday after winning a hotly contests primary election in Senate District 6 in August. Smith will replace Senator Anthony Bouchard, who did not run for re-election.

Former Representative Jared Olsen, a Cheyenne attorney will be moving up to the Wyoming Senate, representing Senate District 8.

Other Republican candidates cruised to victory or were unopposed. You can see the Laramie County elections results from the Laramie County Clerk's Office here.

One of the closer races was in House District 41, where Republican Gary Brown edged Democrat Jen Solis. Brown had defeated multi-term incumbent  Bill Henderson in the GOP primary election in August.

The other fairly close race was in Wyoming House District 11, where Republican Jacob Wasserburger defeated Democrate Sara Burlingame.

Overall turnout was extremely heavy in Laramie County, with over 43,000 votes cast.

On April 6 and 7, 2024, wild winds exceeding 90 mph blew through SE Wyoming, causing havoc in Cheyenne and on the interstate. Everything from fences to semis were upturned in the wind storm. Check out the damage shared by residents below.
