Public Service For McMurry Will Be Held At Events Center Next Tuesday; Family Says He Had Serious Health Issues
The family of the late Mick McMurry will conduct a public service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, the Casper Events Center, according to a press release from the family.
A private funeral Mass for him will be celebrated earlier that day, according to the press release.
The businessman and philanthropist was found at his residence at 5 a.m. Tuesday. The Natrona County Coroner ruled Wednesday that the cause of his death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and the manner of death was suicide.
The family issued this statement:
"On Tuesday morning, Neil (Mick) McMurry left this world on his own terms. Mick had serious health problems that were greatly impacting his quality of life. We never thought that his problems were as severe as they obviously were. Mick was a true cowboy who never complained. He was our rock. In many ways if feels as though we missed our chance to help him and the signs that he was really struggling.
"We appreciate the time that everyone has given us to collect our thoughts and grieve at this very difficult time in our lives. We feel blessed to call Wyoming our home and everyone in it a friend."
The family thanks the Casper and Wyoming communities for their privacy, thoughts, and prayers.
Instead of flowers, the family asks mourners send donations to the Casper Family YMCA or the McMurry Foundation
