‘Obamacare’ Enrollment Low, Democrats Unhappy

WASHINGTON (AP) — You can add rising Democratic discontent to the problems plaguing President Barack Obama's health-care overhaul, now that first-month enrollment figures are out.

The White House says it's willing to consider legislation to counter the millions of health insurance policy cancellations going out to consumers. It's also continuing to promise improvements in the federal website so balky that health plan enrollments totaled fewer than 27,000.

Presidential press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday the White House welcomed sincere attempts to address the problem. At the same time, Democratic impatience grew over a program likely to be at the center of next year's midterm elections for control of Congress.

Senate Democrats have arranged a closed-door meeting with White House officials for midday Thursday in the Capitol.
