Visit Cheyenne President Darren Rudloff says a pair of new hotels are set to open soon.

He says the Staybridge Suites which is being built at 5109 Frontier Mall Drive should open early next month.

Rudloff says a second Cheyenne Fairfield Inn should also open sometime this year, adding he hasn't heard an exact date for that opening. The new Fairfield Inn will be located on West Lincolnway, joining an existing Cheyenne Fairfield Inn which has operated for many years on Stillwater Avenue.

Rudloff says besides offering local travelers another option for lodging, the new hotels are good news because they indicate the two hotel chains have a lot of confidence in the future of the Cheyenne tourism industry.

The increase in hotel rooms could especially come into play during Cheyenne Frontier Days, when visitors to Cheyenne have sometimes been forced to rent rooms in Laramie or Fort Collins. Rudloff says people who stay in Cheyenne are also more likely to spend money locally on gas, food and other items.

He also says the overall outlook for tourism in Cheyenne in 2016 is very strong, noting the low price of gas and a general uptick in recent years in travel to both Cheyenne and Wyoming as a whole as reasons for optimism.
