Brig. Gen. Steven Mount assumed command of the Wyoming Army National Guard from Brig. Gen Kathy Wright Friday during a ceremony at the guard's Joint Forces Readiness Center. Wright will be retiring in January, after a 40 year career. Upon assuming command of the Wyoming Army National Guard, she became the first female Assistant Adjutant General for the Wyoming Army National Guard.

Mount most recently served as director of the joint staff. before that assignment, he served as Director of Operations for the Joint Force Headquarters. He has been a member of the National Guard since 1982. Mount says he is honored to assume this position of great responsibility, and looks forward to serving in this prestigious role.
