A spokesman for the Cheyenne Police Department is urging anyone who is interested in being a "Neighborhood Night Out" block captain to attend an organization meeting next week.

Officer Dan Long says this year's Cheyenne Neighborhood Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9th. He says the event gives neighbors a chance to get to know each other as well as Cheyenne Police officers, with an eye towards preventing crime. Long says there are no special qualifications needed to be a block captain other than a willingness to host a block party.

The organizational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 30th at 5:30 pm at the Kiwanis Community House in Lion's park. Long says anyone interested in being a Block Captain, whether they have done it before or not, should attend the meeting.
