A seven-year-old Casper boy who was life-flighted to a Colorado hospital over the weekend was expected to pass away following an announcement from his mother late Wednesday.

"Despite our best prayers and lifting Jace up and the care from the hospital Jesus wanted him a little sooner. Jace's brain injury was too severe for him to wake up again," Ashlee Ferré posted in the Facebook group "Prayers for Jace" shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The post indicated that Jace Ferré was expected to pass away on Friday.

Casper police officers and Fire-EMS responded to the Residence Inn on Saturday for a reported drowning. Jace had been playing in a pool during a birthday party and, following lifesaving efforts, was flown to Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora.

On Monday afternoon, the boy was put into a medically-induced coma. He has remained in that state since.

His mother posted on Wednesday morning that MRI results were expected that afternoon.

"At this time I just wanted to give everyone an update but please give me and my family to be with Jace spend our last moments with him," the mother said in the Wednesday night post.
