ORIGINAL STORY:

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah police say they're searching for two suspects after a woman and her four teenage daughters escaped an attempted retaliation kidnapping in a basement.

Centerville Police said Wednesday the father and son tied the women up with duct tape and wire ties, but the girls were able to escape while the men beat the mother with a baseball bat. They ran screaming from the house and called 911.

Investigators say the pair had invited the five to a barbecue and planned the kidnapping to retaliate against the mother.

The woman and one daughter were hospitalized for their injuries.

Police say 51-year-old Flint Wayne Harrison and 22-year-old Dereck James "DJ" Harrison drove away in a Chevrolet Suburban with Wyoming plates and have ties to the state.

It was not immediately clear if the suspects had a lawyer.
