Medicine Bow Conditions Vary, Check Before You Head Out

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Medicine Bow National Forest officials are urging hunters and others to check with them on conditions before they head into the forest.

Many roads in the forest are covered with snow or muddy. Snow has made some roads nearly impassable. Other roads have deep, muddy ruts.

Forest officials say some roads might be closed while crews remove trees that have fallen on roads or are at risk of falling on roads.

Campgrounds on the west side of the Snowy Range and in the Sierra Madres have reopened since the government shutdown but several are difficult to reach.

All campgrounds in the Douglas Ranger District south of Douglas are open. Campgrounds in the Laramie Ranger District in southeast Wyoming have closed for the season.
