Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the city has repaid Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power $675, 000 to pay the utility for franchise fees that were incorrectly collected from people living outside the city over a period of years.

The 2 percent fee is supposed to be levied only against people living within the city limits of Cheyenne, but it was discovered last year that the fee had also been charged against the bills of rural Laramie County residents over an 8 year period.

While the utility was responsible for repaying the money collected from it's customers, the city had to repay money that it received from CLFP from the franchise fee payments from rural residents.
