A man accused of throwing his girlfriend down, restraining her and cutting her with a steak knife while their two-year-old daughter was nearby could spend over 15 years behind bars if convicted of two felonies and one misdemeanor charged against him.

Daniel Kenneth Intlekofer, 30, was arrested the morning of Sunday, Oct. 9 after exiting a home in the 4600 block of Bluebird Lane, five hours after deputies first arrived. He is charged with aggravated assault -- bodily injury with a deadly weapon, felonious restraint and was issued a citation for misdemeanor marijuana possession.

Court documents say the standoff began shortly after a woman called law enforcement at 2:23 a.m. to request a welfare check.

The victim, Intlekofer's girlfriend, had called a friend to say she did not feel safe around Intlekofer and was afraid she was going to die, according to the affidavit. The friend then called for a welfare check on the victim.

Albany County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the home, identified themselves and tried to make contact with the residence. They received no response.

A man, woman and her two-year-old girl were inside the home, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies saw two adults moving around within the house as if they were trying to hide from deputies, according to the release. Deputies could also smell marijuana coming from inside.

The Special Response Team was called out to the house. In the meantime, deputies got a search warrant for the residence.

A member of the Special Response Team trained in crisis negotiation was able to get Intlekofer on the phone. After about ninety minutes of negotiations, Intlekofer came out of the house peacefully at 7:24 a.m., per the release from the Sheriff's Office.

The woman and her daughter were treated by EMTs on scene before being taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital.

Court documents say the woman had two fresh parallel cuts on the top of her left wrist, evidently caused by a sharp object. The cuts were covered with a piece of red duct tape.

The victim reportedly told a deputy she had come home from a run that night and Intlekofer was at the house to return their daughter.

Intlekofer allegedly got angry and accused the victim of cheating on him and texting pictures of herself to others, according to the affidavit.

Intlekofer, who used to be a wrestler, threw the victim on the ground multiple times, court documents say. While he was holding her down, Intlekofer allegedly cut the top of her left wrist with a serrated steak knife.

The victim called her friend as the alleged attack was occurring, according to the affidavit.

Intlekofer allegedly would not let the victim leave and reportedly made several other threats, according to the Sheriff's Office.

EMS on scene after the standoff said the victim would probably need stitches for the cuts.

Court documents say a deputy at the scene saw what were apparently blood stains on the right sleeve of Intlekofer's coat.

A search of the house revealed large blood stains in the carpet near the kitchen that were still wet when a Laramie police detective swabbed the, according to the affidavit. Paper towels in the area apparently had blood stains as well as an unknown yellow-colored substance.

Blood was smeared on the floor of the kitchen, according to the affidavit, and a serrated steak knife with suspected blood stains on it was found in the trash.

Deputies also reportedly found a roll of red duct tape allegedly matching the piece of duct tape on the victim's wounds.

Court documents say Intlekofer waived his Miranda rights and told a deputy he confronted the victim about sending pictures of herself to others via text message.

Intlekofer allegedly admitted multiple times throughout the interview that he was at fault and said he had been "egging her on," according to the affidavit.

Intlekofer, in the same interview, also allegedly said he didn't open the door when deputies showed up because he knew he would be in trouble due to the blood and his prints all over the knife.

Intlekofer could face up to 15 years, six months incarceration if convicted on all charges.
