The Laramie Police Department annual report for 2025  shows a mixed picture, with some crime categories showing increases and others down compared to 2024 numbers.

And one category--aggravated assaults--showed no change compared to the year before. Simple assaults were up by only one percent.

You can see the full report here.

The report does include one qualifier on crime trends "Crime data is typically sourced from the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). However, as of this report’s publication, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation has not yet released the 2025 data. The crime statistics presented in this section have been compiled directly from LPD’s own LARC Division records and include theft, sex crimes, assault, burglary, drug offenses, and weapons offenses."

Drug Offenses Down By Almost A Third

One piece of good news was that drug offenses were down by almost a third, 32 percent, compared to the year before. In raw numbers. police handled 73 reports of drug offenses in 2025 compared to 102 in 2024.

Weapons offenses were up by 100 percent strictly on a percentage basis.. That number is  misleading, however, since the raw numbers show the total number of such cases was four in 2025 compared to two the year before, for a total statistically insignificant increase of only two weapons cases.

Other crimes showing increases were sexual crimes, which increased from 46 to 57, for an increase of 24 percent. Burglaries were up by 16 percent, jumping from 62 to 72 cases.

But thefts were down from 267 cases in 2024 to 244 last year, a drop of nine percent Likewise, Driving Under the Influence arrests showed a 10 percent drop, from 118 arrests to 106.
