Wyoming's U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis told Cowboy State Daily on Monday she has not, and will not ever, support a carbon tax.

Several listeners of Wake Up Wyoming sent text messages expressing concern that the Senator had voted for a carbon tax.

The Wyoming Freedom Caucus accused the Senator of voting in favor of a carbon tax and buying into the "climate crisis" by supporting a bill titled the “Prove It Act.”

“Voting to sanction a carbon tax as a lawmaker representing the nation’s leading energy producer is not only a slap in the face to all Wyoming families, it’s an endorsement of government-induced energy poverty nationwide,” the Freedom Caucus said in a statement condemning Lummis. The Freedom Caucus Facebook page shows the following statement and video.

Despite the claims of the left wing media, the PROVE IT Act is a wolf in sheep's clothing and will be used to institute a carbon tax.FACT: The PROVE IT Act is celebrated by Senate Dems and environmental activists as a "common sense measure to reduce carbon pollution." If you give these radicals an inch, they'll take a mile.

The WYFC isn't budging.

Four Republicans supported the bill, including Lummis.

Senator Lummis explained that the bill would protect Wyoming from foreign tariffs.

“Wyoming sets the bar in terms of environmental standards, especially compared to other countries,” Lummis said. “The Prove It Act would show the superior production of U.S. goods over those of our global competitors’ emissions.”

The debate continues between Senator Lummis and The Freedom Caucus as to whether the Prove It Act is a good idea or not.
