Improvement was the name of the game for Cheyenne Central distance runner Trevor Schmidt and that hard work earned him a college opportunity to compete at Weber State in Ogden, Utah.

Schmidt captured the 4A Indoor Track State Championship in the 3200 meters back in March with a time of  9.47.06. He was a member of the Tribe's 4x800 relay and won the 4A title by a wide margin. Schmidt also took 4th in the 1600 and 7th in the 800 in Gillette.

At the 4A Outdoor State Championships in May, Schmidt ran on another 1st-place 4x800 relay and placed 4th in the 3200, clocking in at 9.46.35. He was 9th in both the 800 and 1600-meter runs.

In his junior season, Schmidt was 12th in the 3200 at the State Indoor Championships and the Central 4x800 team took 3rd. That 4x800 team placed 3rd at the 4A Outdoor Championships in 2023 and Schmidt was 9th in the 2 mile.

He also ran cross country for Cheyenne Central and displayed marked improvement with an 11th-place finish at the 4A State Championships in 16.40.4. He was 25th as a junior at State Cross Country and 20th in his sophomore campaign.

Weber State is a Division I institution that competes in the Big Sky Conference.
