The Cheyenne Sixers stayed alive at the AA Northwest Regional American Legion Baseball tournament with a 10-6 victory over host Gillette on Saturday.

Cheyenne scored 8 runs in the first inning and never trailed. They led 10-0 before the Riders mounted a comeback with five runs in the fourth. Gillette added a run in the seventh for the final margin.

The Sixers scored on an RBI double by Corey Williams in the top of the first inning and a two-run double from Kaden Anderson for a 3-0 lead. A walk and two hit batters with the bases loaded contributed three more runs. Two errors added the last two runs for Cheyenne.

A double by Hayden Swaen in the third inning scored two more runs for a 10-0 lead.

Gillette came back with RBI hits from Hogan Tystad and Keyton Killian. Cory Schilling added a sacrifice fly before Mason Drube's two-run single. That cut it to 10-5. Riley Schilling's sacrifice fly in the seventh capped the scoring.

The Riders out-hit the Sixers, 8-to-6, but seven walks and five hit batters by Gillette pitchers helped Cheyenne to the win.

Both teams will play on Championship Sunday at the AA Northwest Regional Tournament in Gillette.

The Sixers face the Rocky Mountain Lobos from Fort Collins, CO, in an elimination game at noon.

The winner will advance to play Gillette in the championship game at 3 p.m.
